Film Screening: The Name Has A Price

Join us at the Feminist Library – all to celebrate a the debut of a new independent crime-drama short, The Name Has A Price…

H osting in one of their event spaces, we will be screening our film toward the evening. Drinks and snacks all provided, as well as merchandise to support the release of the film.

Within the context of a seemingly simple crime-drama, romance plot with film noir inspirations, this piece goes to challenge the retro, sexist stereotypes (that are still seen today) of women, making it a piece of feminist-led art.

Logline –

The turmoil of sisterhood, the importance of love, and the deadly intensity of lust, all in a noir 1960s France. How far do our personalities push us?

Synopsis –

In 1964, aspiring author Noemie is writing a book about her younger sister, Manette & her relationship with fiancé Maurice, which she is convinced will become a romantic masterpiece. Manette & Maurice’s fun and passionate relationship soon turns dark as Manette, a girl of the streets, becomes convinced her fiancé is unfaithful and murders him.

Noemie’s novel is now turning into a story she never wanted to tell and she begins to resent her sister for ruining her dream novel and committing such a heinous crime. When published, ‘The Name Has A Price’ reveals the truth about Manette, twisting her fate. Manette is soon sent to jail and Noemie’s novel gives her the 15 minutes of fame she so desperately longed for.
