Film Screening ‘Loss of Heat’

December 6 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a screening of Noski Deville’s short film Loss of Heat (1994, 20mins), an evocative portrayal of queer love that challenges preconceived notions on the ‘reality’ of living with the invisible disability of epilepsy. Loss of Heat is a poetic, immersive interpretation exploring the interplay of the emotional and the physical, across boundaries of sexuality, dependence and desire.

Researcher Beth Bramich will respond to the film with a short presentation reflecting on its production in 1994, considering the relatively recent introduction of Section 28, and some of the exchanges of labour that supported its realisation. She will then be joined by filmmaker Noski Deville for a discussion of these themes.

Loss of Heat is part of the Cinenova Collection. Cinenova is a volunteer-run organisation preserving and distributing the work of feminist film and video makers. https://cinenova.org/
