Film Screening: Born In Flames

April 3 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

We’re back! It’s rescheduled! Potentially in a slightly more DIY manner, but that’s the nature of such a DIY film.

The Feminist Library is starting a film club, and kicking it off with an absolute treat… Lizzie Borden’s cult feminist classic BORN IN FLAMES (1983). This is a grungy, riotous and full out rebellious film unlike any other, and Lizzie herself has kindly granted us permission to screen it!

In near-future New York, 10 years after the “social-democratic war of liberation” a diverse group of women organise a feminist uprising as equality remains unfulfilled… The screening is on April 3rd, with doors opening at 6:45pm, for us to press play at 7pm sharp. The film will then be followed by a group discussion. No specialist knowledge is needed, everyone is welcome to chat and reflect on what the films make us think of, feel, and how it all connects to feminism today. We’ll be using materials from the Feminist Library’s own collection to inspire conversations!
Come alone, bring a friend, bring snacks, however you fancy it! This is a free event, just make sure you sign up via the Eventbrite link in our bio.

Running every other month, Feminist Pathways is a film club intended to foster connections and conversations. With each film linking to the next, we will revisit specific eras of feminism & filmmaking, developing pathways of thought together.
