Join us in reading Transfeminists and transmigrants perspectives in Europe by Marina Grzinic and Aneta Stojnic.
Abstract: Marina Grzinic and Aneta Stojnic present six artist/community positions: Ana Vujanovi and Saša Asenti from the artistic collectives TkH [short for Teorija koja hoda, translated as Walking Theory] and Per Art, based in Belgrade and Novi Sad; Gin Müller and the Verein zur Förderung der Bewegungsfreiheit (Association to Promote Freedom of Movement) in Vienna; Marina Grzinic /Aina Šmid in Ljubljana; Marissa Lôbo in Brazil and Austria (Vienna, and Linz); Tanja Ostojic in Belgrade/Berlin and Annalisa Cannito in Italy. They write ‘Our point of departure is theoretical/critical and performative and not geopolitical. The selected artists come from a central European context (gravitating around Vienna, Belgrade, Ljubljana) but we enlarge our analysis of their position to encompass other parts of Europe and the global world. Today, the division East/ West in the EU, that was present after the fall of the Berlin wall (1989) is gone (it is simply retired). This topic is not interesting either for the “former” West nor for us. Our interest is in the EU in a global world and specifically those who are left outside the EU.’
No prior reading is required, as we will read together aloud during the session – one person and one paragraph at a time. There is also no need for any prior knowledge on the topic. Copies of the text will be provided on the day.
There is an option to join online – please email us at events@feministlibrary.co.uk to let us know you would like to join remotely.
