ANTI-UNIVERSITY: writing queer grief and resistance

October 6, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

‘In the midst of rampant transphobia, and increased violence against queer people, it’s important we find ways to both grieve those we’ve lost, and celebrate the beautiful diversity of queer lives as they are lived. By continuing to live unapologetically, carrying with us the legacies of those who’ve been taken from us, we offer radical resistance. Poetry is one vital tool which allows us to claim the revolutionary potential of our identities, our experiences, our loss, and our joy.

Join us for a free two-hour poetry workshop @ The Feminist Library. 6-8pm.

We will read and discuss work by queer poets, including Cameron Awkward-Rich, Marina Scott, and CA Conrad, as well as using a number of writing exercises to encourage our own responses, and reflect on our experiences.

No prior experience is required for this workshop. There’s no need to have written or engaged with poetry before. Participants can engage at any level, in line with their existing skills and interest.’
