Feminist Library Artist in Residence MINNA HAUKKA

Finland-born, London-based visual artist Minna Haukka has begun working this year to create new artworks taking inspiration from the Feminist Library. A friend, supporter and volunteer of the Library for several years, Minna showed works this March at HilbertRaum in Berlin, drawing from documentation of Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp, as well as the classification of the Women’s Health Library discovered in our shelves!

Often taking inspiration from everyday life – from personal surroundings to news stories – Minna employs a wide range of mediums, from installation, to photography, video and performance. “I find a subject which interests me, and then I choose the medium”, she explains.

Minna will continue throughout the year to collaborate on our participation in Tate Exchange, as part of our Curatorial Working Group, as well as creating new work for our next Feminist Library on Loan project, to take place in Marylebone this summer – look out for further details coming soon.
