Lesbians Talk Issues at The Feminist Library!

January 25, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Want to learn more about the issues that shaped dyke and queer politics in 1990s Britain? Want to have a relaxed rummage in a feminist archive? Join the Lesbians Talk Issues Revisited project for an afternoon exploring The Feminist Library’s collection. We will be discussing the themes covered in the Lesbians Talk pamphlets and using them as a starting point to find related materials in the library to share with each other.

The Lesbians Talk Issues series is made up of seven pamphlets published between 1992 and 1996. The series aimed to “provide a forum in which topics of current interest within the international lesbian community can be dissected and discussed with immediacy and flexibility”. Long out of print, the series has been recently digitised and is free to read as part of the Bishopsgate Institute’s digital archive

This is a queer group that prioritises a lesbian lens, and is open to everyone interested in learning more about these pamphlets and the topics they cover.

Booking essential. Pay-what-you-can/free. All ticket money will be donated to MAP – Medical Aid for Palestine.

Future Lesbians Talk Issues at The Feminist Library include:

Nazmia Jamal in conversation with Sue O’Sullivan and Pratibha Parmar (authors of Lesbians Talk (Safer) Sex) on 19th March 2025 and with Valerie Mason-John (author of Lesbians Talk Making Black Waves) on 1st October 2025.

The Lesbians Talk Issues Reading Group runs on the first Wednesday of the month at the Old Nun’s Head in Nunhead. Book to attend January’s session here.
