From Silence with Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning

On 29th June we took part in a collaboration with artists and musicians from the Guildhall Barbican to create an event, ‘From Silence’,  in the Tate Exchange. This explored different forms of sound-making as a creative disruption of silence and an investigation of multiple voices and perspectives.

Visitors were invited to participate in the creation of a multi-layered sound piece, facilitated by Guildhall Barbican student musicians, through performances and interactive installations.

Areas around the gallery were set aside for visitors to experience silence and record their own reflections and thought processes.

The Feminist Library ran a Life Drawing workshop, a silent exercise giving participants to chance to either model or draw and to  create empowering and strong poses.

Thanks to Minna Hakka, our artist in residence and Nell Catchpole from Guildhall Barbican for the creation of such a unique and inspiring event.

Here are some photos of the event.
