March Book: Luck is the Hook by Imtiaz Dharker
To celebrate World Poetry Day, HerStories, the Feminist Library’s English language book club, will be reading “Luck is the Hook” a collection of poetry by poet Imtiaz Dharker.
Imtiaz is a British-Pakistani poet, whose quietly powerful, passionate and moving sixth collection of poetry delves into love, loss and the ways chance encounters and fate can impact our lives. From a bomb that misses its mark to six pomegranate seeds eaten by mistake, the collection effortlessly melds together her own experiences with grief with mythology and history in a truly extraordinary way.
You don’t have to read the entire collection – or even enjoy it! Just be sure to join us on Wednesday the 4th of March at the library’s new home, The Sojourner Truth Community Centre from 7pm onwards for a fun, friendly evening of excited book chat with like-minded people.
