women in techWe open this year’s Feminism & Tech series with a focus on the importance of Feminist Consciousness in the conversation, with an introduction to the concept of Consciousness Raising (CR) and feminist critique of technology from Feminist Library’s* / Breaking the Frame’s** Gail Chester and Magda Oldziejewska. https://www.facebook.com/events/159917657974833/

We are also inviting researchers from Met University, and speakers from inspirational #womenintechinitiatives, including Inspiring Women’s*** Laura de Silva andAnitaB.org’s Assel Altayeva.

Schedule of the day:

12-1:30 Introduction to CR, theory and practice, followed by open discussion – Feminist Library’s Gail Chester & Breaking the Frame’s Magda Oldziejewska, Inspiring Women’s Laura de Silva, and AnitaB.org’s Assel Altayeva

1:30-2:15 Lunch break

2:15-3:00 Feminist Library tech tour – Explore the Feminist Library resources through a tech lens

3:00-4:30 Workshops – Choice of CR and brainstorming (help us design initiatives to promote women in tech & more feminist tech!)
