Juanas tells the story of Juana Rouco Buela and her fight for women’s rights in South America. Due to her active participation in the Tenant’s Strike of 1907 and the Vasena Workshops of 1909 in Argentina, she was deported many times, allowing her to develop her activism in both Brazil and Uruguay. Among other things, she founded the first anarchist newspaper made solely by women. She fought her double oppression, as both a worker and a woman, both inside and outside of the militant movement, in the same fight that today reunites us in the streets.

Look out for more films in the series coming soon!
